Two weeks before Thanksgiving in 2011, we decided that we wanted to  give back to all the participants who came out to race with us over the  course of the year. Thanksgiving morning seemed to be the perfect time,  and giving them a FREE race would be the perfect way to say thanks.  We're continuing that tradition...

If you've crossed under our finish  line in any race from Dec. 1, 2025 - Nov. 13, 2026, you've earned  yourself a FREE 5K spot in ONE of the in-person Turkey Trot races.   (Please note the dates.  Running one of our Turkey Trots last year does  NOT qualify for a free entry.)

Everything will be the same as Thanksgiving...but we're letting you race on

Sunday, November 22nd in Cumming, GA.

Charity Partner

Get Basted Turkey Trot 5K/10K/15K/Half is proud to have

Dragon Boat Atlanta as the 2025 Charity Partner.

On a chilly February afternoon in 2004, Dragon Boat Atlanta, a breast cancer awareness dragon boat team, took to the water for the first time. Dragon boat racing is an ancient Chinese sport that is quickly becoming the fastest growing watersport in the world. Our mission is to increase awareness of breast cancer by sharing the belief that there is quality life after breast cancer and showing that exercise plays an important role in achieving the highest quality of life. Paddling with other breast cancer survivors provides a message of hope to participants, the family and friends who support them and the Metro Atlanta community. We welcome breast cancer survivors and supporters, women and men of all ages and athletic abilities to paddle with our team.

Since our inception in 2004, many of our members have paddled internationally, thus spreading this message of hope worldwide. Incorporated and earning non-profit status in 2011, Dragon Boat Atlanta is the only breast cancer awareness team in the state of Georgia. Funds raised support our community programs for breast cancer patients and survivors. Please find us on dragonboatatlanta.us and Meetup.com.
